Premier New Zealand Hunting at Okau

Experience world-class hunting at Okau, New Zealand, featuring premier free-range and estate blocks known for elite Red Stag trophies (up to 500+ SCI). Our 2026 and 2027 seasons are now open, with the legendary "Roar" peaking from mid-March through May. All hunts are fair-chase and all-inclusive—covering guiding, trophy fees, lodging, and meals—requiring a 20% non-refundable deposit to secure your dates.

Option 1: Free-Range Trophy Hunt

The Ultimate "Roar" Experience This package is designed for the purist seeking a mature Red or Fallow stag in a wild, free-range environment. Best experienced during the peak of the Roar (March 26th – May 10th).

  • The Target: Mature Red Stag (10–12 points) or a Trophy Fallow Stag.

  • The Guide: 1:1 or 2:1 professional guiding included.

  • The Guarantee: We offer a US$1,000 money-back guarantee if we cannot put you within shooting range of a mature red stag or better over the five-day hunt.

  • 3-Day Hunt Package: US$3,000 (Inclusive of guiding, food, and accommodation)

  • 5-Day Hunt Package: US$3,500 (Inclusive of guiding, food, and accommodation)

Note: For hunters seeking Red Stags with 13+ points, the Estate Hunt is the best option. Fallow stags and extra red stags can be added for an additional cost.

Option 2: Estate Trophy Hunt

For the Record Books. This option is for the hunter interested in a large trophy. The estate is a large natural game habitat with dense cover, providing a challenging fair-chase hunt.

This option offers 3 days trophy hunting for large trophy red deer stags as follows:

Red Stag Trophy Fees (USD)

  • Bronze: US$4,500

  • Silver: US$6,000

  • Gold: US$8,000

  • Super Gold: US$12,000+ (Subject to availability)

Other Species (USD)

  • Trophy Fallow: US$1,000 – US$2,000

  • Arapawa Ram: US$850

  • Wild Boar: US$500 – US$1,500

  • Goat (up to 30"): US$500

  • Turkey: US$300

  • Opossum: US$100

Option 3: Meat / Cull Stag Hunt

The Casual Hunt – Guaranteed Action

Perfect for filling the freezer. These hunts are self-catered and based in our coastal units. Best booked from May 10th through late November. We guarantee a shot at a deer on these options!

  • Overnight Guided Trip (Max 3 Hunters): NZ$500 per person. Includes 1 Fallow deer per hunter, guiding, and coastal accommodation.

  • 2-Night Guided Trip (4+ Hunters): NZ$1,000 per person. Includes up to 3 Fallow deer, guiding, and coastal accommodation.

  • Cull Red Stags: Available from NZ$500 to NZ$1,500 at our discretion.

 Please note, this is a self-catering option. We can provide meals for an additional charge.

  • Red Deer: Hind ($350) | Yearling ($250) | Spiker ($300) | Cull Stag ($500+)

  • Services: Gun Hire ($50) | Animal Skinning ($50 per animal)

  • Non-Hunters: NZ$200 per person/day (Includes accommodation and meals)
