Our Story
Founded in 1987 by Gert and Christine Vermeer, Okau Station was established with one goal: to create a world-class wildlife park where game is managed for trophy potential while remaining 100% wild. Gert, an SCI-qualified scorer, spent decades refining the herds.
Today, Boyd and Kim run the operation with the same passion. Boyd grew up on these hills and knows every gully and ridge by heart. Kim ensures that the hospitality is as sharp as the hunting, making Okau a welcoming place for everyone—including a new generation of female hunters and international adventurers seeking the soul of New Zealand.

Boyd
Head Guide Raised on Okau Station, Boyd knows every valley and ridge by heart. With skills learned from his father and years spent guiding, Boyd leads each hunt with genuine care, a steady hand, and an honest Kiwi welcome.
Kim
Bookings & Host Kim is your go-to for fast replies and clear answers. She arranges your stay and makes sure every guest feels right at home, serving hearty meals and friendly smiles from your first contact to the final farewell.
William
William always makes sure to point out the deer to you! He is the youngest and most fearless member of the team. He loves the views, being dad's copilot on the side-by-side and switching his toy binoculars with dad's real ones.
